The Business of Science

"The disadvantage I had was that I knew very little about a lot of the basic things you are supposed to know in running a business like how to read a balance sheet and how to do deals."
- Colin Hill, PhD
Chairman and CEO of Gene Network Sciences

eClips has been expanding our collection of entrepreneurs and experts in the Life Sciences, Biotechnology and Engineering sectors.

One concept that seems to be repeated in most interviews and lectures relates to the need for entrepreneurial scientists to have a stronger understanding of the world of business.

To that end, we have created a theme entitled I Should Have Taken Accounting - Building a Startup Despite a Science Background.

Listen as these contributors discuss the courses scientists and engineers should have in preparation for entering the business environment and the experiences and mentors that entrepreneurs with a science background should seek to better guarantee a successful startup.
